Styles and Levels

At Evolution Academy, we believe in teaching high quality technique and building well-rounded dancers. While each style is unique and will focus on different qualities and textures, training in multiple styles will help any dancer grow more holistically.

Dance With Me (Ages 18-35 months)

Mini Movers (Ages 2.5 to 3yrs)

Our Dance with Me classes are for young dancers that are ready to move with the help of a Parent or Guardian.  Dancers must be at least 18 months old and able to walk independently. An adult caregiver over the age of 16 must attend class with the dancer. 

Our class content will focus on balance and coordination, using creative imagery and fun. Structured very similarly to our Mini Movers class, Dance With Me will be a great introduction to dance class and prepare young dancers for our Parent-Free Mini Movers class.

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY

**NOTE - Dancers aged 30 to 35 months are eligible to enroll in either Mini Movers or our Dance With Me class, depending on whether you believe your dancer will be more comfortable with or without a Parent/Guardian

Our Mini Movers will use creativity and imaginative scenarios to begin to explore movement.

Dancers will work on coordination, balance and rhythm, while also learning class structure and follow-along skills. Classwork will also reinforce knowledge in alphabet, colors, and numbers.

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY

Tiny Tots (Ages 4 & 5)

Our Tiny Tots will continue enjoying creative movement while also beginning their exposure to introductory dance technique.

Dancers will build on coordination, balance and rhythm, while also learning to distinguish their right and left sides, and stringing multiple movements together.

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY

Ballet (Ages 6+)

This class will focus on classic ballet technique and ballet class structure, while also learning terminology, positioning and posture.

Ballet helps to strengthen support muscles throughout the torso, core and hips to help prevent injury. This is a great style for the dancer that thrives on consistency or is looking to train in multiple styles.

Level I 

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY

Level II & III

Teacher Placement Required

Jazz (Ages 6+)

This class will incorporate the quicker tempo and sharp, isolated movements traditional for jazz dance.  Jazz dance builds additional body awareness with it's emphasis on shapes and sharp lines.

Based in ballet technique, this is a great style for dancers with high energy.

Level II & III

Teacher Placement Required

Pom Jazz (Ages 6+)

This class will utilize poms and teach the style and techniques used by many collegiate dance and cheer teams. With an emphasis on tricks, and a hip hop influence, this high energy jazz class is sure to get your dancer excited!

This class is perfect for young dancers with an interest in pursuing cheer or drill team!

Level II & III

Teacher Placement Required

Hip Hop (Ages 6+)

This class will introduce isolations, grooves and the dyanmic movement that hip hop dance is known for. All movement and song choices will be age appropriate while exploring this fun and explosive dance style.

Hip Hop helps to build musicality and allows for a large amount of personal style exploration

Level I 

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY

Level II & III

Teacher Placement Required

Contemporary (Ages 6+)

This class will explore a movement style that combines classic ballet and modern dance.  Contemporary dance explores a greater range of motion in the torso and upper body than more traditional styles, and incorporates more floorwork.

 

Contemporary has gained popularity as one of the most emotional and expressive styles of dance.

Level I

Level II & III
